What's new in AI Extractions: June 2026
Audit and finance teams deal with a constant stream of documents, from bank statements to payroll reports, each with its own layout and its own demand on your time.
AI Extractions transforms those documents into usable data, directly in Excel. Every extracted value traces back to the source. No tool-switching, no manual copying, no broken focus. Teams get to the review stage faster using prompts and reusable templates, while maintaining full control over their extractions.
We keep building to make AI Extractions faster and easier to scale across your organization. Here's what's new.
Company templates
Defining what to extract varies by document type, engagement, and team member. When everyone builds their own extraction setup from scratch, results become inconsistent, and onboarding takes longer than it should. Individual templates already help by letting each person save and reuse their own setup, but the knowledge stays siloed within each user.
To solve this, we're introducing one of our most requested features: Company templates. Save an extraction setup once and share it across your entire organization, so anyone on your team can run the same standardized extraction without starting from scratch. We've also added export and import functionality for individual templates, making it easy to share existing extraction setups across your team.

Auto-schema
The first thing you do in AI Extractions is fill in the schema: defining which fields to extract, describing what each field represents, and setting the right data type for each one. For complex or unfamiliar documents, that setup takes time, and not all team members are equally experienced with doing it.
Auto-schema removes that barrier. Upload your document, and it instantly generates a draft schema, suggesting the fields, descriptions, and data types for you. Just review and refine, and get straight to extracting.
Nested data types
Some documents don't fit neatly into a simple table schema in AI Extractions. Payroll reports with line items nested inside employee records. Financial schedules with sublists inside lists. Capturing that complexity is time-consuming and effortful.
With nested data types, you can now add a new list of fields under an existing row in your schema, mirroring the structure of the source document. So if an employee record contains multiple line items, each with its own date, amount, and type, you can capture all of that in one clean extraction output. More accurate results, less cleanup.
Multi-run extractions
Processing large document sets or iterating on templates takes time, and waiting for one run to finish before starting the next slows your work.
With multi-run extractions, that wait is gone. Now you can run multiple extractions simultaneously, each in its own tab. Start a run, move on, and come back when it's done. You can even close the window, and the results will be waiting for you.
AI Extractions templates in Excel Agents
Your AI Extractions templates now connect directly to Excel Agents. Ask the agent to apply a specific template, and it extracts the corresponding fields. It may even suggest a saved template when it detects a clear match. You decide whether it gets applied. Individual and company templates both work the same way, so your whole team runs consistent extractions without starting from scratch each time.
Australia data residency
Regulated firms don't just need powerful extraction tools; they need to know their data stays where it should.
Australia is now a selectable data storage region for AI Extractions, alongside the European Union and the US, so APAC teams can meet local data requirements.

Built for what's next
These six updates make AI Extractions faster, more flexible, and easier to scale across your organization. From smarter setup to more complex document handling, agentic workflows, and growing data residency options, each update is designed to remove one more thing standing between your team and the actual work.
Because the less time spent on preparation, the more time there is for the judgment that only you can bring.
