Michael Dayan

My name is Michael Dayan, and I am an Assurance Senior at BPM. With a background in both Actuarial Mathematics and a diploma in Accounting, my ambitions have been nothing short of exciting. I am a proud Jew who has been able to balance religion, school studies, and work in a harmonious way. Currently, I am pursuing my CPA designation and feel extremely fortunate to have been one of the first to join a growing team of auditors based in Canada, supporting BPM's US-based teams.‍

What is the biggest challenge in audit transformation you recently faced?

One of the biggest hurdles that all accounting firms face is resistance to change due to the high cost associated with it. That being said, whenever I start working with a new client, I always ask myself how I can gain a more comprehensive understanding of their current situation. 

Sometimes, it can be challenging to approach it with innovation. However, by understanding the client's current environment, identifying potential areas for improvement, and creating new processes and technologies to enhance audit performance, I always manage to find a way.

Therefore, successful implementation of audit transformation requires a comprehensive approach that tackles a multitude of challenges.

And how did you solve this challenge efficiently?

As an auditor, I have a clear understanding of what I want to do for my clients – produce an effective audit while optimizing manpower through the use of technology. 

DataSnipper was the technological breakthrough we all needed to perform repeated tasks more effectively and gain better visualization of data sources. The training courses offered by DataSnipper were well-executed and easy to understand. 

As a team, we were able to acquire a more comprehensive understanding of the client's situation. This allowed us to perform more in-depth analysis and compile documentation in a more complete manner. Additionally, the documentation became easily accessible for the reviewer.
